How do I send a non-payment to collections?

I don't have a dedicated billing department and we just use Quickbooks for all our billing.
I have a customer who is 30 days past due on his invoice amount of $110. While not a HUGE amount I'd like to get the money. This came about as the only form of payment we have for him is a credit card which continues to be declined.

I have emailed and left several voice messages and asked them to return my calls but they will not.

Any advice on getting my money?

BW test script for hosts.

Good evening all,

Hope you've enjoyed your Thanksgiving as much as we did here in sunny Miami Beach!

Hopefully this will be the appropriate forum to post this in - I've always been quite fond of VisualWare's various network speed test programs, but don't think I'd get the return on investment needed for a permanent license ($1,194) and find it less than honest to reinstall the 30 day demo every month.

Thus, I was very happy to stumble across this free gem:

http://www.speedtest.net/mini.php

.. and wanted to pass it on to anyone else out there looking for something similar... without the price tag. Here it is in action on my site: http://www.igsobe.com/speedtest/

Perhaps we can get a thread going of hosts posting their speedtest URL and we'll see who has the best results? :)
I'm ready to compete on my RoadRunner 15 Megabit Cable Modem.. ZoomZoomZoom!

(Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with speedtest.net other than being their latest happy user)

Bandwidth billing

Looking for opinions on billing practices.

If I pay for my bandwidth on the 95th Percentile. Is it more advantageous to charge my customer by the GB used or Average Mbps used? And why?

Ever buy/takeover customers who just stop paying?

What's up with this? Have you ever purchased the hosting clients of another company, and just find they don't want to pay for services anymore? I've encountered the situation where invoices are due, or domains need to be renewed, and there is no activity at all from the clients. It's as though they are totally oblivious to any communications.

I think I will need to dust off my account suspension policies. I don't like to have to suspend or ever cancel accounts, but sometimes it seems you have no choice.

Addon Domains

Hi Guys,

We have had some issues with addon domains as of late and we was thinking about getting rid of them all together. What does everybody else do with these, we limit the amount we offer but they are such an annoyance.

Any suggestions?

Any good affiliate programs?

Hi,

I've been searching on here for affiliate programs that would attract potential new clients. I am aware of shareasale.com, but haven't seen any others.

What other good ones are there?

Local host/designer with a twist :D

Just heard an ad on a local radio station for 99 bucks [dot] ca.

Haha, hilarious. Pretty *interesting* business model. :D

(I love the caveat at the bottom of the home page regarding chargebacks. :emlaugh: )

SECURE Billing app…?

I've been looking around the various billing solutions and you know one most of them all have in common? None of them seem to push the idea of how secure they are, or take security seriously.

Currently I'm looking to move to a more secure billing software, but I'm starting to think that perhaps its a futile search. Most of them have had silly mysql database injection vulns or remote code inclusion vulns in the past.

So my question here, is are there any solutions out there that take security seriously? By that I mean:

- have had their code audited by a third party company.
- don't store customer passwords in plain text in the database, only store a 1 way hash of them (it really isn't necessary to store plain text passwords for access to the billing app).
- customer details (address, names etc) are stored encrypted using a key not stored in the database.
- CC details are stored encrypted against a key made up from more than 1 system (i.e. half from another remote system).

Are there any solutions that tick any of these boxes? Ultimately I guess we need to code our own solution, but it'd be counter productive as we just don't have the time.

Discuss...
